What is Building Information Modeling, and how do we use it to improve structural design projects?
Building Information Modeling is the latest technology for structural modeling. BIM software has improved design, analysis and modeling by making model representations of the actual pieces and parts as opposed to traditional computer drafting that just creates lines on paper.
Keller Engineering employs BIM software in structural design, analysis and modeling. Our structural engineers use it to create three-dimensional models of building structures. Then we export these models to the architects, who are then able to insert our structural models into their architectural models. In this way, the architect, mechanical engineer and building owner are all able to visualize the building and identify interferences prior to construction.
